«Finally, an article who clarifies why the Esperanto as federal language of European Union is the only option possible. Finally someone – and even more, a professor of Milan University – realized there are economical and political interests behind the so-called “internationalization” of Italian Universities. Actually it’s an “English-only” policy, which leads to the colonization of Italian Universities and, as a consequence, of the minds of Italian students». This is the comment of Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of Esperanto Radikala Asocio, to the article published today on “La Repubblica” newspaper, titled “The University must not commit the sin of Anglophilie”. «Actially, this is not Anglophilie – underline Pagano – but necrophilie. To the compulsion to destruction and material predation, carried out by the political caste during the postwar, is supported nowadays by intellectual predation, carried out by the academic caste. In the latter case is often carried out by mediocre professors, only capable to make innovation colonizing, depreciating and clearing the immaterial Italian heritage: our language and culture». «This is not the first time I underline that intellectual predation are more serious than material. The reason is clear: to rebuild a bombarded building takes few months, while rebuild a lost immaterial heritage takes decades of decolonization, and dozen of generation. This is a huge, invaluable price, and Italians will be paying for it. During Fascist regime, few antifascists noticed how all that violence had a cost, and someone should pay for it. In the same way, this new violence – in my opinion, worse than the other – will have a price, to be payed through a new Nuremburg Trial, where Profumo, Azzone, Carraro, Moratti, Gelmini and the others will stand as indicted», concludes Pagano.
