Statement by Giorgio Pagano – Radicals/ERA
" Our goverment is all kinds of wrong: immigrants don't need Italian, they need English," says Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of the Radical Association Esperanto.
" Aside from the built-in lunacy, starting from the name 'Click Day,' the goverment can make it even more challenging than it is for foreign workers to obtain regular work by adding obstacles, those being, to spread the English word, especially concerning its computer language and online education. Imagine the eldery today, how humiliated they must feel whilst "clicking" with their mouse on the "net," wondering what the hell is a "slide" and how hurt their dignity must be and how denied they must be in comparison to the people that look after them," Pagano continues.
" Not counting the immigrants who use a residence permit in order to work, and who are trying to be legally reunited with their children, Arab or French mothertongues which were once asked to take the exam in Italian now have to take the exam in English. At a first glance, the instructions written by the Ministry are to laugh at, but they change from comical to tragic when you find yourself empathizing with the workers which are forced to participate, stumbling through this ridiculous race, enlivened by the hope of living a normal life."
