Statement by Giorgio Pagano
“The turn of the FLC/CGIL against the CLIL is yet another great example of today’s democracy,” states Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of the “Esperanto” Radical Association.
“A Unionist that first writes to the head of state to opposing a Goverment initiative, then turns and asks for an extension for said initiative, is a Unionist without credibility. It’s a shame to see that even the attempt to follow the right path is interrupted and dominated by ideology: do what’s necessary, whenever necessary, regardless.”
“We will continue our battle against the CLIL, which supports the initiative of teaching non-linguistic subjects in English, aiding the enormous English mother-tongue market and their publishing houses at the expense of the Italian ones, and damaging the Italian language in school where, according to the European Comission, 1 out of 5 15 year old is semi-illiterate.
Funny that the CGIL, once internationalized, interpreted the 8000 English colonization requests an excuse to “deny workspace for those do-nothing and ignorant teachers that are so dear to the Minister and the President of the Council.”
In our belief, it is worrying evidence of the language colonization that is happening more and more in the State, both left and right. Nevertheless, we keep moving forward, taking special care to keep teachers updated, as surely they do not enjoy being lied to.”
