Patrimonial, Pagano (Radicals/ERA): "What patrimony? Abolish the tea tax!"
Statement by Giorgio Pagano
"It surprises me that there is still talk of a patrimonal tax, when we find ourselves in a situation similar to the one which pushed the American colonies towards independence," says Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of the Esperanto Radical Association.
" The demagogic idea that a tax reserved only for the wealthy is superfluous, if we decide to save for once and for all on the 60 billion euros that Italy spends annually on goverment expenses, residence permits, translations and such to "Englishize" itself. This money, whcih counts as a tariff tax to the United Kingdom, obbligates future teachers of any subject to read a B2 level of English, a difficult level even for an English mothertongue, while the UK saves 18 billion euros thanks to the linguistic supremacy." Pagano continues: " immigrants who wish to work in Italy are required to have an A2 level of Italian, the lowest level there is. At the same time, Gelmini reaches out to Anglophones to teach non-linguistic subjects in English, despite the detriment to Italian speaking employees."
" We can't support such a self-defeating policy, as the consequence of employment will come from the growing economical factor (and therefore the consumerism, pubblic expenses etc.). Let's abolish the English tax Italians have to pay and let us promote the Esperantist innovation: Nevermind patrimony, we must throw the tea in to the sea and start a non-violent, transnational revolution for independence," he concludes.
