Olympics, Pagano (Radicals/ERA): "Demonstration at the CONI on April 19"
On the 19th of April the "Esperanto" Radical Association will be demonstrating in front of the CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee) to ensure that European athletes can compete with the double flag in the 2012 Olympics: The European and the National one.
ERA has already gathered 400 signatures, which will be presented to CONI’s President, Giovanni Petrucci, on the 19th of April. Marco Beltrandi, one of the Radicals currently sitting in Chamber, added his own motion to the petition. "ERA’s initiative is born not only in order to restore italy’s positive image through what could be the most important international sports-related event, directly related to the importance of dialogue between different cultures of the world, but also concerning political, social and economic advantages that the EU could dicuss," Giorgio Pagano stated.
"During the last Olympics, the European countries won more medals than Russia and China put together: to present ourselves united as a European superpower of the Sports world, with all the advantages that could arise for the world of athletes if we identify ourselves as a unique and prestigious identity," Pagano added.
