Notizie: United Nations, 6th Session UNPFII: the proposal advanced by ERA for a World Conference on Languages has passed.

Finally, the papers of the 6th Session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, held in New York from the 14th to the 25th of May, have been issued. More than one thousand delegates from 70 States have gathered at the Permanent Forum. The implementation of actions aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples and improving their life condition has been the common thread of this session.
Thanks to the Transnational Radical Party – first grade UN NGO – “Esperanto” Radical Association  advanced two proposals: to collaborate to its own “Permanent Observatory on World Languages in danger of disappearing” aiming at updating constantly the linguistic and cultural ecosystem and organizing urgently a World Conference on LanguagesThe participants to the Forum greeted with expressed consent the two demands: more than 30 Indigenous Peoples will contribute to the Permanent Observatory; meanwhile the World Conference on Languages has been formulated in the Final Recommendations of the UN Economic and Social Council at the point E (E/C. 19/2007/L.3 Add1): “designing, in consultation with indigenous peoples and the Permanent Forum, the organization of a World Conference on linguistic diversity, indigenous languages, identity and education, as a contribution to the programme of the Second International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People”.
