Message from the Head of State, Giorgio Pagano: "Napolitano is right, but we don’t speak the same language."
Statement by Giorgio Pagano
"Napolitano is right about Europe, but we don't speak the same language," states Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of the Esperanto Radical Association.
"We fully agree with the Head of State when he says that it's impossible for youngsters to ask wonder about the future without thinking like Italians or Europeans, and that 'a lot will depend on us, as the European Continent, and our ability to act truly United: A rich plurality of United States and United people, a strong institution which allows us to act more and more in unison, and integrate permanently.' But we ask ourselves how is this goal possible when what we are missing is a common language, which, in turn, has been replaced by a trilinguistic regime, and how are States and People supposed to integrate when they are obliged to express themselves in the Dominant Coliziner's language," he continues.
"At the same time, when our President underlined the 'the young's rights in a future filled with real possibilities, possibilites that allow to reach an equal starting point as outlined in our constitution,'we can't help but be convinced, but as European citizens we have to admit that as disadvantaged as they are in comparison to their fellow Europeans, the English, and in the absence of linguistic democracy, which in turn becomes absence of democracy. We therefore appeal to the Head of State and ask him if it's right to give in to the idea that Italian youngsters have less possibility in Europe to define themselves this year, as the year that has just passed, or if it would be better to start fighting for linguistic democracy within the Union, which could broaden the horizons for all of the European people, together, without violence and with awareness."
