In honour of the International Mother Language Day (IMLD) the Radical Association "Esperanto," who took charge of the Italian translation, has made the latest edition of the World Atlas of Endagered Languages (2007) available at its headquarters in via Torre Argentina, 76, Roma. Meanwhile today, in Paris, UNESCO celebrates the "Projects for Multilinguism and New Technology" Convention, with the updating of the Atlas on display at the Italian "Esperanto" Radical Association headquarters.
The Association is grateful to whoever would like to access the Atlas and take interest in undoubtedly a neglected cause in our country. Today, International Mother Language Day, is the perfect occasion for whoever wishes to educate themselves and take part personally in the debate, and focus as much attention on it as possible: let’s not forget that the earlier UNESCO alert that, in its Resolution concerning multilinguism and education, speaks openly about "the danger that threatens lingustic diversity in the world today due to the globalization of using an only language to communicate, risking to eliminate the world’s other great languages and even provoke the extincion of the less widespread minority languages, starting from the regional languages."
