Education, Pagano (Radicals/ERA): “Zingaretti will join us on May 28”
Statement by Giorgio Pagano – Radicals/ERA
“Zingaretti will be with us in the streets against the MIUR’s linguistic policy,” stated Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of the “Esperanto” Radical Association.
“The preseident of the Province has expressed his indignation that English teachers are having their funds cut, claiming that English is the only solution that ensures out children to be ‘level with their fellow national and international citizens of the world:’ it’s a shame that they will never be equal to their British and American citizens, who speak English from the day of their birth. Zingaretti criticizes, and is right to do so, what a scandal it is to cut teacher salaries, but he defends the communist decision of the forced learning of English, the very decision that MIUR has upheld in order to reduce the number of job opportunities and increase precarious work, in the name way that CLIL, or the requirement to ahve a B2 level in English to teach any subject, even Italian, or French, or physical education,” Pagano added.
“If the President really wishes to defend the teachers’ rights, we will be happy to wait for him on May 28, at 15.00, at our demonstration alongside the language teachers who will also be participating. We hope that he agrees to our invite and proves to us that he is on the side of the workers, and equal opportunity, and not on the side of false promises encouraged by the goverment in order to drain specific categories.”
