Today, at 11.00, during the demonstration in front of the CONI, Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of the “Esperanto” Radical Association, was received by President Giovanni Petrucci concerning the petition that asks that the European athletes compete with both the European and National flag in the 2012 Olympics.
The CONI President stated that he could not take on such a responsibility as he only represents the Italian sports world and is a delegate of the state, and he is awaiting a brief from the Goverment.
The parliment’s motion occupies the Goverment in a way that, Represented by the Radical Marco Beltrandi, is following his course and has received a great addition in the number of supporters, including the group leader of the PD ([i]Partito Democratico[i]), Dario Franceschini.
“We appreciate the fact that President Petrucci decided to meet and came down to meet us in person,” Giorgio Pagano said, “only now we have to wait for the procedure in the Chamber. Our initiative recently gained attention like never before within the EU, it has also gained an unforseeable worth: we hope that the motion is accepted by the goverment because this would mean, despite this steep passage, Italy still believes in Europe, believing, first of all, in the common identity that it itselfhas founded.”
